The Bureau of Senegal’s National Assembly has outlined an ambitious agenda for the upcoming extraordinary session, featuring eleven key legislative proposals set to reshape national governance.

Senegal’s deputies are set to reconvene at the National Assembly for a pivotal legislative session. The Bureau’s meeting this week has confirmed the launch of the first extraordinary session of the 2026-2027 legislative year, commencing next Monday at 10 a.m. The agenda is packed with eleven critical items, including sensitive reforms and multiple requests for parliamentary inquiry commissions.

Central to the session are two draft laws and three proposed laws, alongside six requests to establish parliamentary inquiry commissions. Among the most anticipated proposals is the draft law to amend Article 37 of the Constitution, which governs the declaration of assets by the President of the Republic. Another key focus is the proposed law to regulate special credits and secret funds—an issue frequently debated in discussions about public financial transparency.

These legislative proposals have already cleared an initial hurdle, having been reviewed and deemed admissible by the Bureau in July. With a packed agenda, this extraordinary session promises to reignite debates on governance, public accountability, and institutional transparency.
