Reynolds seals right-back spot, Kaboré’s Rennes dream fades

The defensive puzzle at Stade Rennais is gradually taking shape. The official signing of right-back Bryan Reynolds addresses a long-standing need identified by the technical staff. While Reynolds was confirmed as Rennes’ new signing, the club’s recruitment team had been closely monitoring Kaboré’s situation. The 25-year-old defender, owned by Manchester City, delivered a standout season on loan with Wrexham in England. Premier League experience wasn’t enough to sway Haise

For Franck Haise, Kaboré represented a viable safety option. Having previously played for Olympique de Marseille during the 2022-2023 campaign, the Burkina Faso international was familiar with the physical and tactical demands of Ligue 1. Though his stint in Marseille ended prematurely, his impressive performances in England convinced Rennes scouts of his potential. Could Troyes become Kaboré’s next destination?

Now out of Rennes’ plans, Issa Kaboré is unlikely to struggle to find a new club. Manchester City has signaled openness to either a permanent transfer or another loan deal to facilitate his move. Recent reports suggest an unexpected opportunity may arise in France. ESTAC Troyes is reportedly interested in acquiring the right-back’s services. This could provide the former Marseille player with a fresh start in a project aiming for ambitious sporting objectives, where he could secure significant playing time ahead of the 2026-2027 season.
