Ousmane Sonko expresses deep sorrow over the passing of Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké

Ousmane Sonko conveyed his profound grief following the demise of Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké, who passed away on July 9, 2026. The President of the National Assembly paid a heartfelt tribute to the esteemed religious guide, emphasizing his remarkable hospitality and the admirable human qualities that characterized their numerous interactions.
Ousmane Sonko, serving as the President of the National Assembly, shared his deep sorrow after learning of the death of Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké. The revered Khalife of the Khassim Mbacké family, based in Guinguinéo, was called to God on Thursday, July 9, 2026.
In a message conveying his condolences, Ousmane Sonko honored the memory of the spiritual leader, recalling the many significant meetings they shared during his visits to Guinguinéo.

“It is with immense emotion and profound sadness that I received the news of the passing of Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké, the esteemed Khalife of the Khassim Mbacké family of Guinguinéo,” Sonko stated in his message.
The prominent political figure also highlighted the exceptional human virtues of the departed, recounting the warm reception and genuine benevolence he consistently experienced during each of their encounters.
“At every one of these gatherings, he demonstrated a special affection, a welcoming spirit, and a kindness that left a lasting impression on us,” Ousmane Sonko emphasized.
During this period of mourning, he extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, to the General Khalife of the Mourides, to the entire religious community of Guinguinéo, and indeed to all of the Senegalese people.
“May Allah, in His boundless mercy, grant him His forgiveness and welcome him into His eternal Paradise,” he prayed.
