There’s no clarity on whether he truly wanted to join Roma, and in the end, he’s heading to Fenerbahçe. It’s rare to hear, ‘This is the player I want,’ only to finalize the deal hours later.” His colleague Fernando Orsi echoed the skepticism, adding, “Football won’t collapse without Greenwood. His character raises doubts, and for half the price, Roma could secure a more suitable player like Gasperini. The World Cup serves as a stage for talent.”

Roma’s alternative targets gain momentum

Paolo Marcacci highlighted Roma’s potential fallback options, emphasizing, “Moreira is a top-tier player whose profile aligns perfectly with Gasperini’s system. His stock has risen post-World Cup, and options like Nusa, Garnacho, and Tresoldi offer strong alternatives. Greenwood’s salary is unsustainable for Italian clubs, and Roma risks forfeiting Champions League participation by pursuing him.”
