Launch event gathers leaders and artists

The festival’s official kickoff took place at the iconic Hilton roundabout in N’Djamena, where the Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Handicrafts, Abakar Rozzi Téguil, unveiled the program. The ceremony drew a diverse crowd, including government officials, cultural stakeholders, musicians, and enthusiastic citizens eager to celebrate Chad’s rich musical heritage.

In his opening address, the Minister emphasized how culture serves as a vital instrument for national unity. He highlighted that this year’s theme aligns with President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno’s commitment to fostering social cohesion as a top national priority.

“This year, we’ve designed a more open, decentralized celebration that reaches every corner of Chad,” the Minister explained. “Music transcends borders—it fosters dialogue, peace, and unity, even in a world facing countless challenges.”

A nationwide musical journey

To ensure broad participation, organizers have planned a sweeping tour across N’Djamena’s ten districts and multiple provinces. The goal? Bring performances out of traditional venues and into neighborhoods, public squares, and rural areas where people live and work.

“Music belongs to everyone,” the Minister stated. “From bustling city centers to remote villages, our goal is to unite Chadians under the values of brotherhood, solidarity, and national pride.”

Celebrating culture and creativity

The festival will feature a dynamic lineup of performances, workshops, and cultural activities designed to spotlight local talent. Beyond entertainment, this event aims to spotlight the economic potential of Chad’s creative industries—offering new opportunities for youth employment and cultural entrepreneurship.

The 2026 Fête de la Musique isn’t just about rhythm and melodies. It’s a movement—one that strengthens communities, amplifies voices, and builds a shared future for all Chadians.
