Cameroon lawyer issues response to allegations in ongoing dispute

In a formal right of reply, legal representative Me Mélissa Nyoth, acting on behalf of her client Sani Mouhamadou, has categorically denied any mention of Maxime Eko Eko in a recent press statement.

On August 10, 2026, following the circulation of a press release attributed to the legal team of Maxime Eko Eko Léopold, a rebuttal was issued to address claims made in a prior communiqué dated August 5, 2026. In that document, Sani Mouhamadou had referenced the Directorate General of External Research (DGRE), a Cameroonian state institution, as one of several entities alleged to have engaged his services and network in 2020.

Maxime Eko Eko’s legal representatives countered by asserting that:

• Sani Mouhamadou had solicited and secured a meeting with them to propose services;
• He failed to substantiate his professional qualifications or official credentials;
• The DGRE rejected his technical proposals and severed all contact thereafter;
• No initial request for information or contractual relationship between the parties could be verified.

In response, Sani Mouhamadou clarified that his original statement was intended solely to correct misinformation and protect his reputation after videos surfaced online on July 24 and 25, 2026. Crucially, he emphasized that Maxime Eko Eko’s name was never included in his communiqué, suggesting the allegations may stem from a misunderstanding.

According to Mouhamadou, records show that on February 1, 2020, at 7:09 a.m., Maxime Eko Eko Léopold sent him a direct message stating, ‘I urgently need your help.’ This exchange, he argues, confirms the sequence of events: Maxime Eko Eko initiated contact first, and his expertise—certified by the Institute of Advanced National Defense Studies—remains unchallenged.

Following the release of the erroneous communiqué, informal mediation was attempted to resolve the matter amicably. However, no corrective action has been taken to date. Despite his respect for Maxime Eko Eko, Mouhamadou insists on defending his honor, professional integrity, and public standing.

He has issued an ultimatum, demanding the immediate retraction of the disputed statement within 48 hours. Should this not occur, he reserves the right to present documented evidence and pursue legal action for defamation, as the allegations—if sustained—could constitute a serious breach of his rights.
