Gabon’s kimba connect 2026: unlocking digital innovation for businesses and startups

Gabon’s Ministry of Digital Economy, Digitalization, and Innovation, alongside the Gabonese Business Federation (FEG), has launched Kimba Connect 2026 at the headquarters of the Bank of Central African States (BEAC) in Libreville. This groundbreaking initiative marks Gabon’s first national open innovation challenge, designed to bridge the gap between companies facing digital transformation hurdles and local startups ready to deliver tailored tech solutions.

The program operates on a challenge-based model, inviting businesses to submit their most pressing operational obstacles. Startups then step in with innovative digital proposals, competing to provide the most effective solutions. The most promising projects will receive structured support to refine and implement their ideas.

Applications are open until midnight on Tuesday, July 14, with an initial screening phase scheduled for July 24. The grand finale, where winning startups will be announced, is set for August 4, 2026.

Mark Alexandre Doumba, Gabon’s Minister of Digital Economy, emphasized the program’s core philosophy: “Innovation gains real-world impact only when it solves tangible problems.” He highlighted that Kimba Connect 2026 will empower businesses to turn challenges into growth opportunities while giving startups unprecedented market exposure and visibility.

Beyond individual benefits, the initiative aims to foster a culture of open innovation in Gabon. By strengthening ties between established companies and emerging startups, the program seeks to accelerate the country’s digital transformation, showcase Gabonese talent, and enhance the overall competitiveness of its economy. This aligns with the government’s broader strategy to modernize industries and stimulate homegrown innovation.

Through collaborative problem-solving, Kimba Connect 2026 aspires to boost enterprise competitiveness, nurture a thriving ecosystem of innovative entrepreneurs, and contribute to economic diversification—a critical step for Gabon’s sustainable development.
