Ferran Torres to PSG: Luis Enrique’s personal appeal seals potential transfer?

The narrative surrounding Ferran Torres appears to be accelerating rapidly. The FC Barcelona forward, currently focused on his World Cup commitments with the Spanish national team, could soon be on the verge of departing Spain for the City of Light. Paris Saint-Germain has emerged as a strong contender to welcome him to the capital, with reports suggesting that manager Luis Enrique has made a decisive move that has significantly impacted the operation.

Luis Enrique himself previously indicated in an interview that significant changes were planned for his squad during the transfer window. Already, Gonçalo Ramos has completed a move to AC Milan, while Kang-in Lee is reportedly heading to Atletico Madrid. To address the void left by Ramos’s departure, the Parisian club is reportedly targeting Ferran Torres.

Luis Enrique penned a letter to Ferran Torres regarding the transfer

The 26-year-old attacker, who remains under contract with FC Barcelona until June 2027, is currently immersed in the World Cup with the Spanish squad. Once the tournament concludes, Ferran Torres is expected to take advantage of his summer break to engage in discussions with Parisian officials about his potential future contract at PSG. Following the transfer of Gonçalo Ramos, PSG management has reportedly intensified efforts to secure Torres’s signature. Having previously worked with Torres during his tenure as coach of La Roja, Luis Enrique has now reportedly taken a personal initiative.

“PSG has made contact for the player”

The coach of Paris Saint-Germain is believed to have composed a letter directly to Ferran Torres, aiming to convince him that joining PSG is the optimal career move. This personal gesture is reportedly a pivotal factor in the sudden acceleration of the Torres transfer saga. Football journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed on Saturday that the operation is progressing favorably. He revealed, “Ferran Torres has only one year remaining on his contract at Barcelona, and behind the scenes, PSG has initiated contact for the player. PSG is in discussions with the player’s representatives and has expressed keen interest. After Gonçalo Ramos’s departure, Torres could directly replace him, offering versatility across multiple positions, including as a number nine or a winger. Ferran Torres is indeed an option for PSG, although not their sole target.”
