The incident unfolded when two Cameroonian gendarmes, armed with Kalashnikov rifles, were filmed by local residents entering the village of Gasol—situated in Central African territory.
The unauthorized incursion triggered swift action by Central African military units deployed near the border. After intercepting the officers, the troops disarmed them, citing a clear violation of national sovereignty. The gendarmes were then escorted to the Beloko police station, which sits directly on the frontier.
