Granit Xhaka surprend son monde et s’accorde avec un cador de Premier League pour son transfert
Granit Xhaka appears poised for a move to Chelsea, with reports indicating a significant step forward in the transfer saga. On Saturday, journalist Luca Cerchione first revealed that the London club had submitted an offer totaling thirty million euros to secure the midfielder’s services. Further developments, according to sources close to the negotiations, suggest that the 33-year-old player has already reached a personal agreement with the Blues.
“Exclusive information: Granit Xhaka and Chelsea have already reached a verbal agreement regarding a transfer,” a source confirmed on Saturday evening. “A complete agreement has already been found on personal terms.” This suggests that the contractual details between the player and Chelsea are settled, paving the way for club-to-club discussions.
Chelsea has reportedly initiated contact with Sunderland, Xhaka’s current club. Interestingly, Xabi Alonso is making a strong push to bring Xhaka into the fold. The two share a history, having played alongside each other at Bayer Leverkusen between 2023 and 2025, a period that likely forged a strong professional connection.
Xhaka’s illustrious career began at FC Basel, followed by stints at Borussia Mönchengladbach, Arsenal, and Leverkusen before he joined Sunderland a year ago for a fee of fifteen million euros. During his time with Sunderland, which impressively secured a seventh-place finish in the Premier League last season, the Swiss international featured in 36 official matches, contributing one goal and six assists.
Despite being under contract with Sunderland until mid-2028, and with his market value currently estimated at eight million euros by Transfermarkt, Chelsea seems determined to acquire the experienced midfielder. This left-footed maestro, who boasts 149 caps for his national team, is currently captaining Switzerland at the World Cup. He has been an indispensable figure, playing every minute of the group stage as Switzerland topped Group B and now prepares to face a third-placed team in the next round.
