The Ministry of Environment, Fisheries, and Sustainable Development has issued a strict directive prohibiting water and forestry agents from wearing military uniforms, insignias, ranks, berets, or any other armed forces-related insignia.
In a circular dated July 6, 2026, signed by the ministry’s Secretary-General, Koularambaye Koundja Julien, the measure addresses growing concerns over military personnel temporarily assigned or transferred to environmental roles, as well as civilian agents, who have been observed wearing equipment exclusive to the Chadian National Army (ANT).
The directive emphasizes that violations will result in disciplinary action. Heads of central and regional departments are tasked with ensuring immediate and strict compliance with this policy.
