The message, delivered by Dr. Abdelmadjid Abdelrahim Mahamat, Minister of Public Health and Prevention, on behalf of President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, underscored the country’s diplomatic and humanitarian efforts.

Lake Chad basin fragility and climate finance

Amid persistent crises, Chad stressed the vulnerability of the Lake Chad basin and urged developed nations to fulfill their financial commitments on climate and resilience.

Security contributions: 1,500 troops in Haiti

On security, N’Djamena highlighted its major contribution to peacekeeping operations, including the deployment of 1,500 soldiers to Haiti as part of the Security Council-authorized force.

Humanitarian toll: over two million displaced

The country also detailed the critical humanitarian situation along its borders, hosting more than two million displaced people, including over one million Sudanese refugees fleeing conflict since April 2023.

Neutrality in Sudan, alarm over Ennedi-East airstrikes

While reaffirming strict neutrality in the Sudanese conflict and support for peace initiatives, the Chadian government raised a strong alarm: it condemned in the strongest terms recent airstrikes in the Ennedi-East province, calling them an unacceptable violation of its territorial integrity and reserving the right to retaliate if they recur.

Global positions: two-state solution and multilateral reform

Finally, Chad addressed international issues, rejecting acts of aggression against sovereign states—from Iran to the Gulf, Gaza, and Cuba—while reiterating its commitment to a two-state solution in the Middle East and deep reform of multilateralism.
