Chad advances digital education transformation with national strategy validation

The Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Vocational Training recently hosted a pivotal national workshop in N’Djamena to validate a groundbreaking diagnostic report on digital education transformation. The event, held on July 10, 2026, brought together key stakeholders in technical and vocational education to review, refine, and approve a document that will shape Chad’s future digital education strategy.

This initiative aligns with the Pan-African Initiative for Digital Transformation of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), supported by major organizations including UNESCO, the African Union, and the African Development Bank. The pre-strategy assessment engaged over 200 participants from 57 TVET centers and related institutions through field missions and digital surveys across all national academies.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Djininboh Gabriel, Director General of Human Resources, Statistics, and Digitalization, emphasized the strategic importance of digital transformation in aligning education systems with technological advancements and evolving job markets. He highlighted the government’s commitment to leveraging digital tools as a cornerstone for modernizing TVET in Chad.

The diagnostic report reveals both progress and significant challenges, including governance gaps, inadequate digital infrastructure, connectivity issues, energy supply limitations, trainer capacity gaps, and the need to integrate digital skills into curricula. Participants were urged to contribute their insights to ensure the final strategy is practical, inclusive, and responsive to Chad’s unique context.

Once finalized, the validated report will serve as the foundation for Chad’s National Digital Transformation Strategy for TVET, with a comprehensive action plan spanning 2026-2030. The goal is to establish a modern, efficient, and job-market-aligned technical education system that prepares students for the demands of a digital economy.
