cameroonian influencer elysée le sneiper arrested in Côte d’Ivoire, moustik le karismatik urges government action
The detention of Cameroonian social media personality Elysée le Sneiper in Côte d’Ivoire has triggered widespread reactions across Cameroon. Renowned comedian Moustik le Karismatik has publicly called upon President Paul Biya’s government via a Meta post regarding this unfolding situation.
The Cameroonian influencer, Elysée le Sneiper, has been taken into custody in Côte d’Ivoire. Reports indicate that he faces charges of offending the head of state. This stems from a video recorded by the influencer in 2023, which has recently resurfaced. The video was originally created during a period of heightened tension between Côte d’Ivoire and Cameroon.
It appears the video has been taken out of its original context. Elysée le Sneiper himself addressed the issue in a video posted on his Meta page, offering an explanation and extending apologies to the Ivorian people given the significant attention the matter has garnered.
Following the influencer’s arrest, Moustik le Karismatik promptly appealed to the Cameroonian authorities. His urgent message was directed first to the Cameroonian embassy in Côte d’Ivoire, and subsequently to the President of the Republic, Paul Biya. Moustik articulated his deep concern over his compatriot’s predicament, seeking clarification on the measures being implemented to ensure Elysée’s protection, provide consular assistance, and uphold his fundamental rights while in a foreign country.
