The government has announced a second extension to the census period, aiming to reach more households, individuals, and agricultural operations across the country. This decision follows the latest directive from Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute.

Challenges persist, particularly in major urban centers like Yaoundé and Douala. Residents in newly developed neighborhoods report that enumerators have not visited, highlighting gaps in the mapping process.

According to the census commission, only 60.4% of the population has been recorded since the initial phase began in April. Key obstacles include delayed payments to enumerators, which have sparked unrest, low participation from certain households, and language barriers in some regions. Security concerns in high-risk areas further complicate efforts.
