WOMEN’S CHAMPIONS LEAGUE 2026/2027 – After conceding an early goal, Barcelona responded emphatically to secure a comfortable lead. Paris FC matched them in the second half, but the first half had already decided the outcome (5-2).

While PSG earned a valuable point in Madrid and OL Lyonnes cruised past Servette, Paris FC, as expected, were no match for the mighty Barcelona. The reigning champions and winners of four of the last six editions made short work of the third French club on matchday 1.

Barcelona respond after early setback

Against the odds, Paris FC took the lead through new signings Mariam Toloba and Evelyne Viens. The former Nantes player capitalised on a poor Spanish touch to release the Canadian, who used her strength to shrug off Paredes and Martina before slotting past Cata Coll. A chill ran through the Spanish stadium, but Barcelona quickly restored order. Forty minutes later, the scoreline read a daunting 4-1.

After being called into action several times, Chavas was finally beaten by Kerolin (18th minute). Completely unmarked at the far post from a corner, Serrajordi pounced to put Barcelona ahead, before Graham Hansen delivered another superb assist, this time for Pajor. The Norwegian, who provided two assists, then scored the fourth Catalan goal just before the break. It was all too fast for the Parisians, who were technically outclassed.

Second half ends 1-1

Although they couldn’t overturn the defending champions, Paris FC matched them over the remaining 45 minutes. Their pressing was more intense and better coordinated, preventing Barcelona from playing their game after the restart. But while the Parisian defence had improved, their attack still lacked a cutting edge. And after wasting chances, they were punished.

Following a fine piece of play from Sydney Schertenleib, Pajor completed her brace (70th minute). The Parisians continued to push and were rewarded. Clara Mateo had to try twice but scored moments later. The visitors held a 1-1 draw in the second half, but the first had been fatal. The hardest part is over for Paris FC. Now they must face Arsenal next week…
