Senegalese Advisor Dr Bacary Thior Resigns in Solidarity with Ousmane Sonko

Dr Bacary Thior has stepped down from his position in the Prime Minister’s office following Ousmane Sonko’s departure from the premiership. He emphasized his decision was made “in accordance with my principles” while reaffirming his commitment to serving the State.
The former Technical Advisor for Health announced his resignation in a statement released today, explaining his action stemmed directly from the Prime Minister’s exit.
Understanding Dr Bacary Thior’s Decision
In his official message, Dr Bacary Thior stated, “Following the end of Mr. Ousmane Sonko’s tenure as Prime Minister, I have chosen to leave the Cabinet in alignment with my principles.”
Despite his resignation, he reassured his continued dedication to public service, stressing his readiness to contribute wherever his expertise is needed. He also pledged ongoing support for Ousmane Sonko, who leads both the Pastef party and the National Assembly.
The departing advisor expressed gratitude to his colleagues, acknowledging any shortcomings with humility and extending forgiveness for any oversights during his tenure.
