A close associate of Senegalese Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, Matar Ndiaga Seck, has been taken into custody by the Criminal Investigations Division (DIC). The arrest follows a warrant issued by the Linguère police station amid an ongoing probe into alleged unnatural acts in the Djoloff region.
The investigation, which initially led to the detention of 22 individuals on charges of homosexuality, has now expanded to include Seck. Authorities cite “concordant evidence” linking him to the case, though no further details have been disclosed.
The move underscores heightened scrutiny in the region, where legal proceedings related to such offenses remain a contentious issue. Seck’s arrest marks a significant development in the broader inquiry, raising questions about the scope of the investigation and its potential implications.
