Ppa-ci excludes key members ahead of 2026 congress

The PPA-CI, led by former Ivorian President Laurent Gbagbo, has issued a statement confirming the exclusion of several prominent party members from its upcoming first ordinary congress, scheduled for May 14–15, 2026 in Abidjan.

The decision follows disciplinary measures against individuals who defied the party’s directive to abstain from both the October 2025 presidential election and the December 2025 legislative vote.

The communiqué emphasized that those facing pending disciplinary actions—including Don Mello, Stéphane Kipré, Dali Arthur, and Armand Ouégnin—are barred from participating in the congress until further notice. The gathering aims to strengthen party cohesion and revitalize member engagement amid growing internal divisions.

PPA-CI’s leadership has intensified scrutiny of dissenting factions, particularly after high-ranking officials openly challenged the party’s electoral boycott policy, which was endorsed by Mr. Gbagbo. The upcoming congress, set to take place at the Palais de la Culture d’Abidjan, will serve as a platform to address these challenges and reaffirm the party’s strategic direction.
