PSG transfer fee for Yan Diomandé drops as Nasser Al-Khelaïfi uses personal ties

This could become one of the standout transfers of the summer. Yan Diomandé, who impressed at the 2026 World Cup while representing Côte d’Ivoire, is in high demand on the market. However, he appears to be moving closer to PSG, and to finalise the deal, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi is expected to rely on his personal connections.

PSG has accelerated its transfer activity. To compensate for the likely departures of Gonçalo Ramos to AC Milan and Lee Kang-In, who is close to joining Atlético de Madrid, the Parisian club has pushed forward on several deals, including moves for Maghnes Akliouche (AS Monaco) and more recently Yan Diomandé (RB Leipzig). The Ivorian winger, a priority for Liverpool, has chosen to join PSG despite strong interest from the Premier League side.

Al-Khelaïfi maintains close ties with RB Leipzig president

Now, PSG still needs to convince RB Leipzig to sell their star. That is where Nasser Al-Khelaïfi steps in. PSG‘s president is personally handling the financial negotiations for transfers, and his excellent relationship with Oliver Mintzlaff, chairman of the supervisory board at RB Leipzig, could smooth the path. Mintzlaff sits on the board of the EFC (European Football Club), the organisation whose president is Nasser Al-Khelaïfi. Therefore, the Qatari executive will try to secure the best possible price for Yan Diomandé, as PSG has decided to stop overpaying for players. Liverpool has already had two offers of over €100 million rejected. But Nasser Al-Khelaïfi also plans to use the player’s own desire to join PSG to pressure RB Leipzig into a deal.

Yan Diomandé set to fulfill his father’s dream?

In fact, Yan Diomandé himself admitted in a press conference that he is not indifferent to PSG’s interest. “My future? I have a team that handles that. I try to stay as focused as possible. I have loved PSG since I was little. I think my father was a PSG supporter. But I am not projecting into the future; I am focused on the World Cup. We will see what happens next,” he said before the friendly match between France and Côte d’Ivoire ahead of the World Cup.
