Niger’s Prime Minister, Sifi Ghrieb, paid a working visit to Niamey on Wednesday, where he was received by President General Abdourahamane Tiani.
Ghrieb conveyed warm fraternal greetings from Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, reaffirming Algeria’s commitment to deepening solidarity, cooperation, and brotherly ties between the two nations.
Landmark electric power plant project takes shape ahead of schedule
The high-level meeting reviewed key areas of bilateral cooperation and assessed progress on agreements reached during President Tiani’s February visit to Algeria, as well as outcomes from his discussions with President Tebboune. Both sides also examined initiatives agreed upon during the second session of the Algeria-Niger Joint High Commission held in Niamey last March.
During the talks, President Tiani expressed deep appreciation for President Tebboune’s personal dedication to strengthening bilateral relations. He highlighted the rapid completion of the electric power plant project—a testament to the strong bonds of solidarity between the two countries. The leaders emphasized their shared determination to build a robust, diversified partnership that serves their mutual interests and advances the development aspirations of their peoples.
A shining example of South-South cooperation
The Nigerien head of state praised the impressive pace of project implementation, calling the dynamic Algerian-Nigerien partnership a model for South-South cooperation. He reiterated his and President Tebboune’s sincere commitment to elevating bilateral relations to unprecedented levels.
Prime Minister Ghrieb commended the rapid advancement of cooperation initiatives, noting that the relationship had entered a new phase marked by stronger political engagement and tangible progress on the ground. He credited the consistent, high-level oversight from both leaderships for ensuring strict adherence to the agreed roadmap.
Regional stability and economic integration take center stage
Ghrieb reaffirmed Algeria’s dedication to deepening cooperation across critical sectors, including energy, hydrocarbons, infrastructure, health, education, digital technology, and transportation. He stressed the importance of advancing key regional projects to support economic growth and enhance integration.
Discussions also focused on accelerating commercial and economic cooperation programs, with both sides underlining the need to expedite implementation to bolster development and regional cohesion. On a broader level, the leaders assessed current regional challenges, emphasizing the importance of continued bilateral coordination to promote peace, security, and stability in the Sahel.
