Mustapha Ngouana: « Notre pays est à l’arrêt, le Cameroun est sur pilotage automatique »
According to Mustapha Ngouana, Cameroon has grown accustomed to unfulfilled promises and ignored commitments.
Speaking on the television program “Droit de réponse,” Mustapha Ngouana described a recurring pattern in Cameroon of commitments that are never honored.
“The president of the Republic of Cameroon has repeatedly made decisions whose deadlines were never met. Let us take a few examples. For the Africa Cup of Nations, the president said the tournament would take place on the announced date — it did not happen. The president had 50 years to prepare the 50th anniversary of reunification; it was supposed to be celebrated in 2011, but it was finally held in 2014,” Mustapha Ngouana wrote during the program “Droit de réponse.”
The debate topic was “Broken trust: public opinion facing unfulfilled promises.” Mustapha Ngouana addressed this theme by highlighting what he called “permanent drift” in the governance of the head of state.
“I believe the president is in a state of permanent drift in his governance. Our country is at a standstill. When people even speak of poor governance, I think they are being kind — it is actually non-governance. Cameroon is on autopilot.”
