Chad police crack down on 29 suspects in N’Djamena raids

The National Police of Chad has unveiled the identities of 29 individuals arrested during coordinated operations in N’Djamena between May 15 and June 1, 2026. The suspects face charges ranging from weapons trafficking to aggravated robbery and illegal immigration.

Multi-agency collaboration leads to arrests

Controller General Mahamat Idriss of the National Police confirmed that the crackdown involved joint efforts from the Intelligence Cell, Public Security Commissariats, Central Investigation Services, and the Ngueli Border Police. These coordinated raids targeted criminal networks operating across the capital.

The suspects were categorized into four distinct groups based on the severity and nature of their alleged crimes. Investigators noted that some arrests occurred in the act, particularly in cases of motorcycle theft and vehicle break-ins.

Wide-ranging charges against suspects

The 29 individuals now face legal proceedings for a variety of offenses, including:

  • Arms trafficking and complicity
  • Aggravated robbery and armed banditry
  • Simple and aggravated theft, including motorcycle robberies
  • Vehicle break-ins and theft of electronics, gold, textiles, and construction materials
  • Pickpocketing and organized crime involvement
  • Illegal entry of foreign nationals into Chad

Following standard procedures, all suspects were processed with formal charges documented before being transferred to judicial authorities for prosecution. The police emphasized the ongoing commitment to dismantling criminal organizations operating in the region.
