Chad bahamas establish diplomatic ties in new york

Chad and the Commonwealth of the Bahamas have officially inaugurated diplomatic relations following the signing of a joint communiqué in New York, as confirmed by Chadian officials.

The agreement was finalized on July 16 by Chad’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Mouctar Abakar, and his Bahamian counterpart, Stan James.

In the joint declaration, both nations pledged to foster cooperation and strengthen ties rooted in mutual respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity, and non-interference in domestic affairs.

The Commonwealth of the Bahamas, a Caribbean island nation of roughly 420,000 residents, gained independence from the United Kingdom in 1973. Its economy thrives on tourism and financial services, with the country serving as a key offshore financial hub known for its favorable tax policies and robust international banking sector.

This diplomatic milestone reflects Chad’s broader strategy to expand and deepen its international partnerships across diverse global regions.
