Before an assembly of high-ranking officials and proud family members, 895 recruits from the 2024 and 2025 classes of the forestry service, along with the 2025 police class, were formally presented to the national flag. This ceremony marks the successful conclusion of their basic joint training and confirms their dedication to protecting the citizens and the natural heritage of Bénin.

The event was led by the Ministers of Interior and Public Security and National Defense. The presence of the Chief of General Staff of the Beninese Armed Forces and the Director General of the Republican Police underscored the importance of this new wave of security personnel.

A transition to military discipline

During his welcome address, Lieutenant-Colonel Armand Assogbaga, commander of the Bèmbèrèkè center, highlighted the deep symbolism of the day. He noted that the ritual represents a definitive break from civilian life. He reminded the new agents that standing before the flag is not merely a formality but a commitment that demands iron discipline, resilience, and total loyalty to the nation.

The day reached its peak with the official presentation of the national flag, signaling the recruits’ formal entry into the defense and security forces. This was followed by the traditional awarding of the fourragère. This military distinction recognizes months of intense physical and tactical training, certifying their status as guardians of the law and defenders against modern environmental and security threats in West Africa Sahel regions.
