In an interview on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, the national president of the Nouveau Mouvement Populaire (NMP) describes the Sunday guest on Info TV as a man of legendary inconsistency.
Cameroonian politician Banda Kani is furious with tribal agitator Elimbi Lobe. During an interview published on his page this Tuesday, June 23, 2026, the NMP national president voiced his frustration. His anger stems from Lobe calling nationalist Ernest Ouandié a “bandit” on Info TV, a green-screen channel broadcasting from Yaoundé, Cameroon.
“By calling Ouandié a ‘bandit,’ Elimbi Lobe disgraced himself,” declared pan-Africanist Banda Kani. He argued that Lobe will never achieve the stature of a strong political leader. “He has reduced himself to a worthless person. He has turned into a political actor who will never have national reach in this country. He has become a petty quarter and canton politician, simply pursuing a strategy to become a member of parliament,” Kani continued.
When he was in the SDF, could he have made such statements?
Drawing from history, Banda Kani highlighted Lobe’s inconsistency, noting how his rhetoric shifted after leaving the Social Democratic Front (SDF). “He is following an electoral strategy. Look at his past. Read his own words from 2011 when he was still in the SDF. He praised national integration and even celebrated the role of the Bamiléké community in building the nation. He would say his best friend was a Bamiléké and that he wanted to name his son after him,” Kani explained.
“In 2015, he denounced tribalism. When he was in the SDF, could he have made such comments? The party would have stopped him. You are dealing with a small-time politician who believes that if he gets elected as a deputy, his political career will peak,” Banda Kani added.
