Alternative crédible unveils vision for Côte d’Ivoire’s future

Abidjan witnessed the introduction of a fresh political entity, Alternative Crédible (ACR), to the press in Grand-Bassam on Saturday, July 4, 2026. This new movement aims to present a distinct political offering for Côte d’Ivoire.

During the press conference, Oxyde Tano, who serves as the National Executive Secretary for ACR, detailed the foundational principles, ambitious goals, and overarching vision guiding the movement. He emphasized that ACR emerges as a direct response to the pressing socio-economic and democratic challenges currently facing the nation.

Tano further elaborated that this initiative took root on December 1, 2025, stemming from the collective will of women, men, and young people from diverse backgrounds. Their shared determination is to pioneer a fresh approach to political engagement within Côte d’Ivoire.

According to Mr. Tano, the establishment of ACR is grounded in a widely acknowledged reality: despite its substantial human and natural resources, Côte d’Ivoire continues to grapple with numerous difficulties. These include the escalating cost of living, persistent youth unemployment, widening social inequalities, deficiencies in public services, and significant societal divisions.

Positioning itself as a left-leaning political movement, ACR firmly asserts its commitment to placing human well-being at the core of its operations. Its vision is centered on fostering a Côte d’Ivoire that is “just, prosperous, reconciled, democratic, unified, and upholds the rule of law.”

Operating under the compelling slogan, “Demain se décide aujourd’hui” (Tomorrow is decided today), ACR intends to champion a governance model built on transparency, open dialogue, and an unwavering pursuit of the common good. The movement harbors long-term aspirations to unite the nation’s dynamic forces around a credible political agenda, thereby contributing to the development of a more efficient state, a more inclusive economy, and a more equitable society.

ACR’s leadership outlined the primary pillars of their political platform. These include fostering youth employment and entrepreneurship, enhancing the educational system, ensuring access to quality healthcare, modernizing the agricultural sector, guaranteeing the safety of individuals and property, advancing women’s rights, combating the high cost of living, stimulating economic growth, protecting the environment, and strengthening national unity.

Oxyde Tano reiterated ACR’s openness to constructive dialogue with all political and social stakeholders who share fundamental values such as peace, democracy, social justice, and development. He assured that particular attention would be directed towards young people, women, workers, economic operators, students, and the Ivorian diaspora.

The National Executive Secretary also announced the movement’s official public launch, scheduled for August in Cocody. During this pivotal event, ACR’s President, Bamba Abou, will formally unveil the movement’s comprehensive political vision and its key programmatic directions.

In preparation for this grand ceremony, ACR plans to conduct extensive awareness tours, hold general assemblies, establish local coordination bodies, and organize national campaigns for mobilization and membership across the entire territory.

Concluding his remarks, Oxyde Tano declared, “The moment has arrived to inaugurate a new chapter in our history,” emphatically reaffirming ACR’s profound ambition to contribute to the construction of a Côte d’Ivoire that is “more just, more robust, and more prosperous.”
