Stuttgart secures fourth-place finish in Bundesliga
The Swabian club finished the season on 62 points, just one ahead of their closest rivals, TSG Hoffenheim (61 points), who suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat at Borussia Mönchengladbach. Bayer Leverkusen (59 points) rounded out the top four, though they were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Hamburger SV in their final match.
The match against Frankfurt was a rollercoaster. Stuttgart took an early lead when Chema Andrès put them ahead in the 10th minute. Nikolas Nartey doubled their advantage just before halftime, giving Stuttgart a commanding 2-0 lead. However, Frankfurt fought back in the second half with two penalties from Jonathan Burkhardt, leveling the score at 2-2 and sparking wild celebrations among the away supporters.
Bayern Munich dominates with record-breaking season
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich capped off an extraordinary campaign with a 5-1 thrashing of 1. FC Köln, finishing the league with an astonishing 122 goals—36 of which came from Harry Kane, who also scored a hat-trick in the victory. Bayern’s dominance saw them claim the Bundesliga title for the 35th time, extending their lead as Germany’s most successful club.
Heidenheim and St. Pauli relegated to 2. Bundesliga
At the bottom of the table, both SV Sandhausen and FC St. Pauli were relegated to the second division after heavy defeats. Sandhausen lost 2-0 at home to 1. FSV Mainz 05, while St. Pauli fell 3-1 to VfL Wolfsburg, ending their top-flight campaign on just 29 points. Wolfsburg, in 16th place, will now face a relegation playoff against the third-placed team from the 2. Bundesliga to determine their fate.
Stuttgart’s Champions League return
For Stuttgart, this qualification marks a significant milestone under manager Sebastian Hoeneß, who has rejuvenated the squad with a blend of youth and experience. Their Champions League campaign will begin with the group stage, where they’ll face some of Europe’s elite clubs in a bid to make an impact on the continental stage.
