During his inaugural address, Prime Minister Ahmadou Al Aminou Lo underscored the imperative for a government focused on the collective good, while subtly acknowledging prior consultations with Ousmane Sonko. This particular emphasis suggests underlying political dynamics within the executive, advocating for a united national front.

Ahmadou Al Aminou Mohamed Lô, widely known as Al Aminou Lo, has officially assumed the role of Prime Minister, articulating the core principles guiding his administration. This much-anticipated declaration followed the formation of the new executive team, approved by President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, and distinctly reaffirmed a commitment to the “Diomaye Président” agenda and the long-term Vision Sénégal 2050.

In his speech, the head of government stressed the necessity of orienting public action towards tangible results, institutional harmony, and the collective mobilization of all national stakeholders. He unveiled a 30-member cabinet, characterizing it as a “mission government” designed to balance political foundations with technocratic expertise.

The Prime Minister also highlighted that the consultations leading to the cabinet’s formation involved all relevant parties, including Ousmane Sonko, the president of the Pastef party. This clarification emerges amidst a politically charged atmosphere, marked by disagreements over the new executive’s composition and Pastef’s non-official inclusion in the government.

Without explicitly naming his predecessor, several segments of Al Aminou Lo’s discourse were widely interpreted as pointed messages to him. By prioritizing the national interest above partisan considerations, Lo essentially reiterated that « the Homeland and the Republic must always transcend any partisan concern. » Many observers perceived this phrasing as a direct response to the political tensions surrounding the governmental transition.

Consistent with this perspective, the Prime Minister emphasized the vision championed by President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, which centers on the urgent realization of promises for a « sovereign, just, and prosperous » Senegal. He underscored the vital need to harness all available expertise, including that of the diaspora, to accelerate the implementation of key public policies.

From an organizational standpoint, Al Aminou Lo announced several structural adjustments within the governmental apparatus. Certain responsibilities have been reallocated among ministries to enhance the coherence of public action. Notably, the Ministry of Energy, Petroleum, and Mines underwent restructuring, with some mining-related duties transferred to a newly established Department of Geology.

The head of government further indicated that the government spokesperson has been elevated to the rank of a full minister, a move he presented as reinforcing the clarity and consistency of institutional communication.

Finally, the Prime Minister unveiled a revised methodology for government operations, founded on principles of rigor, coordination, and efficiency. This fresh impetus, he stated, is designed to translate national aspirations into concrete achievements for the benefit of the populace.
