The Nigerian military announced on Sunday, June 7, that it had freed several hundred people kidnapped months earlier by a faction of the jihadist group Boko Haram in Ngoshe, located in Borno state (northeastern Nigeria). A video released by the army shows frightened women and children being transported in vans or pickups at night, then gathered on the ground under trees while soldiers stand guard. The number of released captives ranges from 360 to nearly 420, depending on the source.
