N’Djaména: seventh district clears streets to improve traffic flow

The seventh district of N’Djaména has initiated a public road clearance operation along Avenue Taïwan, beginning this Monday. The initiative aims to reclaim illegally occupied spaces to enhance traffic flow, pedestrian safety, and overall urban livability in this central area of the capital.

Under the supervision of the district mayor, the operation specifically targets unauthorized structures, roadside stalls encroaching on the pavement, and stray animals that disrupt vehicular movement.

The mayor emphasized the urgent need for this action, citing frequent traffic jams and road accidents resulting from unregulated public space use. He stressed that clearing the streets is essential for community well-being.

« Roads must be kept clear. I urge residents of the seventh district to embrace change and take collective responsibility. Every day, lives are lost due to blocked roads and chaotic traffic conditions, » stated Mayor Adoum Hassan Djimet.

He warned that strict enforcement will follow, with penalties for continued illegal occupation of public spaces. « Anyone obstructing roads will face arrest, and their goods will be confiscated. Stray animals will also be impounded, » he added.
