Mamadi Doumbouya to return to Conakry on Monday after state visit to Côte d’Ivoire

Conakry – The President of the Republic of Guinea, Mamadi Doumbouya, is set to arrive back in Conakry on Monday, September 14, 2026, concluding his state visit to Côte d’Ivoire. The announcement was made on Sunday by the Civil Cabinet of the Presidency of the Republic.

Per the statement, the head of state will return to the Guinean capital during the day on Monday. A welcoming ceremony is scheduled for 12 noon at Ahmed Sékou Touré International Airport.

On this occasion, several state officials are invited to take part in welcoming the President of the Republic. These include the President of the National Assembly, the Prime Minister, the presidents of republican institutions, members of the government, as well as senior military and security officials.

The chiefs of staff of the various branches of the armed forces, the high commander of the National Gendarmerie, the directors general of the Police, Customs, and the Corps of Nature Conservators are also expected.

Representatives of diplomatic and consular missions, international organizations, as well as the governor of the city of Conakry are also among the personalities invited.

Discussions on Guinean-Ivorian cooperation

The return of Mamadi Doumbouya follows a state visit to Côte d’Ivoire, marked by unity, peace, and pan-Africanism.

During his stay, the Guinean president was notably received by his Ivorian counterpart, Alassane Ouattara. The two leaders discussed strengthening relations between Conakry and Abidjan.

After their meeting, Alassane Ouattara emphasized the strength of ties between the two countries. “The links between Côte d’Ivoire and Guinea are solid.”

The Ivorian president also specified the main topics discussed with his Guinean counterpart: “With my brother, President Mamadi Doumbouya, we exchanged on strengthening this historic fraternity, particularly in the economic, political, and security fields.”

This state visit thus allowed the two countries to highlight their desire to consolidate their cooperation in several strategic sectors.
