Mali’s bold strides in mining, security and diplomacy for a stronger future

With the rallying cry “Let Mali’s gold shine for Malians,” the government has rolled out a revised Mining Code granting the state and local investors up to 35% ownership in key projects. These reforms are already yielding tangible results, with nearly 760 billion West African CFA francs recovered and allocated. By 2026, this disciplined management has enabled the distribution of 18.4 billion CFA francs to 819 municipalities, funding vital health and education infrastructure across the country.

The nation is also expanding its resource base, with lithium projects in Goulamina and Bougouni positioning Mali on track to become Africa’s top producer of the critical mineral.

Security and logistics: the twin pillars of stability

The country’s development journey is underpinned by a robust security architecture.
