Chad suspends Chinese oil company operations over environmental breaches
The Chadian government has halted all activities of a major Chinese state-owned oil corporation in mid-August following repeated violations of environmental regulations. This decision precedes a comprehensive audit of all petroleum firms operating in the country.
The Chadian Ministry of Petroleum announced the immediate suspension of operations for the Chinese National Petroleum Corporation International (CNPCI) in August. The move came after multiple documented cases of environmental non-compliance were identified during routine inspections. In response, authorities have initiated a sweeping review of all oil companies active in Chad to ensure adherence to national environmental protection standards.
