azerbaijan and Morocco bolster parliamentary cooperation
In a significant diplomatic gathering in Baku, Sahibə Gafarova, the esteemed Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis, recently convened with Mohamed Ghayate, the distinguished Vice-President of the Kingdom of Morocco’s House of Representatives. Mr. Ghayate was visiting Azerbaijan to attend the 20th session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States.
During their discussions, both parties enthusiastically acknowledged the excellent state of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Morocco. They emphasized that these ties, firmly rooted in mutual respect, are experiencing successful growth, particularly within the political sphere. The conversation also highlighted the fruitful collaboration the two nations share within various international organizations, underscoring their consistent solidarity and reciprocal support across diverse global platforms.
The critical importance of inter-parliamentary cooperation in deepening bilateral relations was a central focus. Speaker Gafarova expressed her satisfaction regarding her official visit to Morocco and her productive meetings with Moroccan counterparts at various international events, noting how such direct engagements significantly contribute to strengthening their bond. It was further observed that the active friendship groups within both countries’ legislative bodies play a crucial role in mediating and advancing these relations. The memorandum of understanding signed earlier this year between the two parliaments was identified as a promising framework for further enhancing their cooperative efforts.
Both parliamentary delegations expressed contentment with their joint endeavors within international parliamentary organizations, notably the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM). It was highlighted that Morocco maintains a robust presence at the Network’s conferences, signaling its profound commitment to the organization’s objectives and work.
