The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Dakar hosted a significant diplomatic engagement as Norway’s Minister of International Development, Åsmund Aukrust, conducted an official visit to Senegal. This two-day mission, running from May 3 to 4, 2026, underscored the growing importance of bilateral relations between the two nations.
The Minister held strategic discussions with key Senegalese officials, including Cheikh Niang, Minister of African Integration, Foreign Affairs, and Senegalese Abroad; Elhadj Abdourahmane Diouf, Minister of Environment and Ecological Transition; Abdourahmane Sarr, Minister of Economy, Planning and Cooperation; and El Malick Ndiaye, President of the National Assembly.
These high-level exchanges provided an opportunity to address critical regional issues, particularly the security situation in the Sahel and broader development challenges. The talks also explored global priorities and multilateral initiatives such as the UN80 agenda, reflecting both countries’ commitment to international cooperation.

During the visit, both parties reaffirmed their dedication to enhancing collaboration across multiple sectors.
