Morocco formalizes commitment to Gaza stabilization force
Senior Moroccan officials and international counterparts have finalized the legal framework for Morocco’s participation in the International Stabilization Force (ISF) in Gaza. This agreement, signed at the headquarters of the National Defense Administration in Rabat, underscores the Kingdom’s dedication to fostering regional peace and security.
Key figures convene in Rabat for historic signing
On Wednesday, a high-level delegation led by Nasser Bourita, Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Residing Abroad, alongside Abdeltif Loudyi, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government for National Defense Administration, hosted Nickolay Mladenov, the UN’s High Representative for Gaza Peace Council.
The meeting was attended by senior military leaders including the Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) and the Commanding General of the Royal Gendarmerie.
Morocco’s strategic role in regional stability
During discussions, Moroccan officials emphasized the Kingdom’s long-standing commitment to international peacekeeping, highlighting its extensive experience in UN-backed missions. The participation in the ISF aligns with Morocco’s broader regional initiatives aimed at enhancing security and fostering development.
Morocco’s contribution will include deploying high-ranking officers from the FAR to the ISF joint command, as well as personnel from the Royal Gendarmerie and National Security Directorate. Additionally, a mobile military hospital will be established to support humanitarian efforts.
International recognition of Morocco’s peacekeeping efforts
Representatives from the Gaza Peace Council and ISF leadership praised Morocco’s involvement, noting that the Kingdom’s participation would significantly bolster stabilization efforts in the region. The agreement signed in Rabat serves as the operational blueprint for Morocco’s role within the ISF, combining security measures with humanitarian aid to create a sustainable peace framework.
