The President of the Republic, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, met yesterday at the Palais Rénovation with Libreville’s Mayor, Eugène Mba. This marks their second official encounter following their initial discussion on April 28, both aimed at evaluating local governance progress, assessing municipal performance, and strengthening state-local collaboration.
During the meeting, the Mayor presented a comprehensive report on the initiatives he has undertaken since assuming office on April 24, including an updated organizational structure for City Hall. The discussions centered on long-term urban development priorities, such as reorganizing public spaces, constructing modern parking facilities, expanding green and botanical areas, addressing illegal public land occupation, and upgrading neighborhood infrastructure. Digitizing municipal services was also highlighted as a key priority.
The Head of State emphasized the critical need for enhanced urban sanitation, stressing that cleanliness is a top national priority. He called for accelerated efforts to improve household waste collection systems across Libreville.
President Oligui Nguema reaffirmed his vision of a modern and appealing Gabon, insisting that Libreville—serving as the nation’s showcase—must meet international urban planning, local governance, and public service standards. He urged Mayor Eugène Mba to demonstrate unwavering rigor, forward-thinking innovation, and operational efficiency in executing the outlined projects.
