The Ministry of Transport, Civil Aviation and National Meteorology, in collaboration with port stakeholders, is hosting the fifth edition of the tripartite forum RCA–Chad–Cameroon. This year’s event focuses on streamlining goods transit through Cameroonian ports. The opening ceremony took place on Monday, May 11, 2026, in N’Djamena, under the leadership of Fatima Goukouni Weddeye, Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation.
strategic dialogue for stronger economic ties
Scheduled from May 11 to 13, 2026, this forum serves as a pivotal platform for fostering economic cooperation between Chad, the Central African Republic (CAR) and Cameroon. Jean Ernest Masséna Ngallé Bibéhè, Cameroon’s Minister of Transport, highlighted the shared reliance on Cameroonian port infrastructure, emphasizing the deep-rooted geographical and historical ties among the three nations.
During his address, he commended the unwavering commitment of the highest authorities in all three countries. He also drew attention to the plight of a Cameroonian driver detained in Chad, urging a fraternal resolution to the issue.
addressing challenges for landlocked nations
In her opening speech, Minister Fatima Goukouni Weddeye underscored the forum’s critical role for landlocked countries like Chad and the CAR. She noted that the efficiency of corridors connecting Douala and Kribi directly impacts market supply, logistics costs and economic competitiveness for these nations.
collaborative solutions for smoother transit
Over three days, public and private sector participants will engage in discussions to identify practical solutions. The goal is to enhance transit efficiency, cut logistics expenses and deepen regional economic integration. Key focus areas include policy alignment, infrastructure improvements and streamlined customs procedures.
The forum reflects a shared vision to transform regional trade dynamics, ensuring smoother, faster and more cost-effective movement of goods across borders.
