The C64 coalition has dismissed President Félix Tshisekedi’s proposed national dialogue, calling it an empty gesture amid deepening crises for Congolese citizens. Opposition leaders argue the initiative distracts from urgent issues rather than addressing them.

After five hours of deliberation, coalition spokesperson Martin Fayulu delivered a scathing statement: “The people are not fooled. These repeated consultations by Félix Tshisekedi fail to tackle the war, insecurity, health crises, or social distress. They divert attention from what truly matters to the nation.”

Opposition figures accuse the president of cynically prolonging his influence beyond the 2028 mandate end. They claim his administration is manipulating the eastern DRC conflict to justify power retention, warning of further national fragmentation.

In response to what they call a dangerous trend, the C64 coalition is mobilizing citizens for a major national march on September 15 to oppose these alleged power maneuvers.
