Chad takes center stage at Cameroon’s historic 54th National Day Parade
The Republic of Chad has been named the guest of honor for the grand military and civilian parade marking the 54th anniversary of Cameroon’s National Day, set to unfold on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, in Yaoundé and across all regions of the country.
The National Day, widely known as Unity Day, honors Cameroon’s national cohesion each year and stands as a cornerstone event in the nation’s civic and patriotic calendar. For the 2026 edition, officials have chosen the theme “National Unity: The Foundation of Defense and Catalyst for Progress”, underscoring its strategic importance.
In the capital, Yaoundé, the festivities will feature a showcase of military precision, with the country’s defense and security forces, school delegations, youth organizations, and representatives from various sectors marching in unison. Similar celebrations will unfold nationwide, reinforcing national pride in every corner of Cameroon.
The Ministry of Youth has unveiled groundbreaking initiatives for this milestone event. Highlights include the launch of a national carnival celebrating cultural diversity and the expansion of celebrations to a full week, ensuring broader public participation and bringing the festivities closer to local communities.
