Algeria’s prime minister begins official visit to Chad, reinforcing bilateral ties

Mandated by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb launched an official visit to the Republic of Chad this Monday, a trip aimed at strengthening fraternal bonds and deepening cooperation and partnership between the two nations, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s office.

The prime minister is accompanied on this visit by the Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons Mohamed Arkab; the Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies Mourad Adjal; the Director General of the Algerian Agency for International Cooperation for Solidarity and Development, Abed Hallouz; as well as several senior officials from national companies active in the hydrocarbons, energy, and electricity sectors.

Upon arrival at N’Djamena International Airport, the prime minister was welcomed by his Chadian counterpart, Head of Government Allamaye Halina, along with several members of the Chadian government and high-ranking officials.

Following the welcome ceremony, the prime minister and his Chadian counterpart held a bilateral working session during which they reviewed the progress of the distinguished relations between Algeria and Chad, and exchanged views on ways to give new momentum to bilateral cooperation and expand its areas, reflecting the shared will of the leaders of both countries to elevate fraternal and cooperative ties to broader horizons, serving the common interests of the two brotherly peoples.

Cornerstone laid for a 40-megawatt power plant in N’Djamena

On the occasion of this visit, the prime minister, accompanied by his Chadian counterpart, will preside over the ceremony to lay the cornerstone of an Algeria-Chad solidarity power plant in the Farcha industrial zone of N’Djamena, with a capacity of 40 megawatts.

This project will be executed by Sonelgaz International under a grant from the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria to the sister Republic of Chad, in accordance with the directives of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and as a renewal of Algeria’s ongoing commitment to supporting sustainable development processes in brotherly African countries, while consolidating the values of African solidarity and cooperation through structuring projects with a direct impact on economic and social development.

The prime minister will also hold consultations with the President of the Republic of Chad, Marshal Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, focusing on prospects for strengthening Algerian-Chadian partnership, as well as key regional and African issues of common interest.

This visit by the prime minister to the Republic of Chad comes within the positive and growing dynamic of Algerian-Chadian relations, materializing the shared will of the leaders of both countries to raise bilateral cooperation to higher levels and strengthen economic and development partnership.
