Akere Muna welcomes Andrew Nkea Fuanya’s Vatican appointment
Pope Leo XIV has appointed Archbishop Andrew Nkea Fuanya as a member of the Section for First Evangelisation and New Particular Churches within the Dicastery for Evangelisation. This appointment has been warmly welcomed by lawyer Akere Muna.
Andrew Nkea Fuanya has been elevated by Pope Leo XIV. The prelate is now a member of the Section for First Evangelisation and New Particular Churches within the Dicastery for Evangelisation. His responsibilities include assisting the Holy See in the growth of young churches and guiding global missionary efforts.
The nomination drew praise from Akere Muna, a prominent Cameroonian civil society figure. According to the lawyer, the appointment is not only a deep recognition of Archbishop Nkea’s pastoral wisdom, tireless service, and unwavering dedication to the Church, but also a powerful testament to the light he continues to bring to Cameroon, Africa, and the universal Church.
“I am convinced that in this new mission, he will continue to serve with the same courage, clarity, and fatherly compassion that have marked his ministry over the years,” Muna wrote. Archbishop Andrew Nkea was appointed Metropolitan Archbishop of Bamenda in 2019. Elected president of the National Episcopal Conference of Cameroon on April 30, 2022, he has been a key figure in peace dialogue efforts in crisis-hit regions.
