Legal proceedings involving Succès Masra have officially commenced within the chambers of the Supreme Court, though the defendant was notably absent as the session opened. Despite his physical absence, the leader of Les Transformateurs is being represented by a team of defense attorneys who are currently engaging with the court’s leadership.
High security and restricted access
The area surrounding the Supreme Court has been placed under a strict security lockdown. A significant force comprising police officers, gendarmes, and nomadic guards has been stationed at key intersections and along the primary roads leading to the judicial complex. This robust deployment has created a high-pressure environment as the trial moves forward.
Media and observers excluded
Transparency during the opening session was limited as both domestic and foreign journalists were instructed to leave the site. In addition to the media blackout, the head of the CNDH was reportedly turned away by the commander of the nomadic guards, preventing official human rights observation of the morning’s events.
Inside the courtroom, the President of the Supreme Court has initiated the face-to-face dialogue with Masra’s legal counsel. While the political leader is not attending the hearing in person, his lawyers are present to manage his defense as the trial enters its initial phase.
