Côte d’Ivoire’s education sector embarks on digital revolution with JOURIE 2026

Abidjan, 21 July 2026 – Côte d’Ivoire has launched the Journées ouvertes pour l’utilisation de la recherche et de l’innovation en éducation (JOURIE 2026), a groundbreaking initiative aimed at reshaping the nation’s educational landscape through digital innovation. The event, inaugurated on Tuesday at the École nationale supérieure de statistique et d’économie appliquée (ENSEA), is being spearheaded by the Ministry of National Education, Literacy and Technical Training (MENAET).

Reimagining education through technology

Themed « Transforming education through digital solutions for sustainable quality schools », JOURIE 2026 brings together educators, researchers, policymakers and innovators to explore how technology can enhance learning outcomes across schools, colleges, high schools and universities. Running until Wednesday, 22 July 2026, the event focuses on leveraging scientific research and technological advances to improve educational standards nationwide.

Dr Inza Meité, Director of Studies, Strategy, Planning and Statistics at MENAET, emphasized the event’s significance: « This forum represents a collective opportunity to examine how research and innovation can drive systemic change in our education system. It’s about ensuring that public policies are grounded in solid data and rigorous analysis. »*

Bridging research and policy for better education

The JOURIE 2026 initiative underscores a critical government priority: strengthening the connection between educational research and policy formulation. By fostering dialogue between researchers, practitioners and decision-makers, the initiative aims to create an evidence-based framework for education reforms that meet international standards.

Dr Meité further highlighted the event’s role in positioning digital tools not merely as accessories but as strategic catalysts for equity, performance and quality in education: « We envision a future where technology breaks down barriers to access, enhances teaching methods and ensures every learner benefits from a world-class education. »*

N’Guessan Koffi Kouadio, Technical Advisor representing the Minister of National Education, Literacy and Technical Training, reinforced the government’s commitment to evidence-based educational reforms. He described the JOURIE 2026 theme as a reflection of a transformative vision—one where digital innovation is not just an instrument but a powerful driver of change.
