On the afternoon of Tuesday, June 2, 2026, the President of the Republic of Benin, Romuald Wadagni, touched down in Ouagadougou to begin a formal friendship and working visit to Burkina Faso.
The Burkinabè leader, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, was present at the Ouagadougou international airport to provide a warm welcome to his counterpart. Both heads of state stood for the national anthems before Romuald Wadagni reviewed the military honors prepared for his arrival.

Following the formal greetings, the two presidents retreated to the airport’s ceremonial lounge for a private one-on-one meeting to discuss matters of bilateral importance.

The diplomatic itinerary then led the leaders to the Koulouba Presidential Palace. A scheduled working session will take place there to further strengthen the ties between Benin and Burkina Faso.
