Bénin and Morocco strengthen bilateral ties with expanded cooperation plans

Diplomatic leaders from Bénin and Morocco have concluded productive discussions in Cotonou, expressing strong satisfaction with the progress of their bilateral cooperation. The talks, held ahead of co-chairing the seventh session of the Morocco-Bénin Joint Cooperation Commission, highlighted the shared ambition to deepen and diversify their partnership across key sectors.

During the meeting, Nasser Bourita, Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad, joined by Corinne Amori Brunet, Bénin’s Minister of Foreign Affairs in charge of Afro-descendant integration, and Hugues Oscar Lokossou, Minister Delegate for Resource Mobilization and Debt Management, reviewed the remarkable strides made since His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s historic visit to Cotonou in June 2004.

The discussions underscored not only the tangible advancements achieved but also the deep-rooted friendship and mutual respect between the two nations—particularly between His Majesty King Mohammed VI and President Romuald Wadagni. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to elevating Bénin-Morocco relations into a leading example of inter-African cooperation, rooted in solidarity, exchange, and shared progress.
